Massage Therapy at Lakeside Physiotherapy, Nelson BC

What is Registered Massage Therapy (RMT)?

Massage Therapy is the ancient technique of manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well being. The practice of Massage Therapy includes the assessment, treatment and prevention of soft tissue and joint disorders. RMT’s use different modalities to decrease pain, rehabilitate and restore health.

RMT is a professional designation used by a graduated Massage Therapist who has completed at least two years of education at a recognized school of massage therapy, and who is a registered member of a Regulatory College – College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC). RMT’s honour a strict code of ethics set by the College to ensure that patients receive safe, competent and ethical care. During a RMT appointment you can expect an intake, assessment, treatment, reassessment and therapeutic exercise.
